Finding a job in Japan and/ or Thailand: bit.ly/3AhKPIN
This information is for TESOL qualified people, as Japan deserves better quality teachers.
**Special note: The Covid pandemic has meant international travel has been halted. Countries are starting to open back up, but very slowly. We are unable to give an estimated time as to when certain countries open up.
Disclaimer: Our TESOL graduate employment assistance is not associated with any TESOL Provider, course, association or accrediting body. This is simply a guide to assist ASQA accredited TESOL graduates find work in Japan (and Thailand).
Nobody wants to hire unqualified people anymore, it is best to get TESOL certified ASAP.
Congratulations TESOL graduates! You are in hot demand in Japan! Check out the Austrade report on teacher training in Japan: bit.ly/AUSTR. People with TESOL qualifications are now preferred over people with no TESOL or teaching qualifications, so it is a good time to apply to come to Japan.
Recommendation from David: What ALT companies will not tell you is it will cost you around US$4000 minimum to move to Japan (most say 250,000 yen is about what you need to move to Japan, but it always ends up more). Read the recruitment information from ALT companies, they sometimes will tell you how much you need to move to Japan. Those with TESOL qualifications are better prepared to meet the performance criteria for working in Japan, and therefore hold on to their contracts over many years. If people fail to meet the highest standards, they can expect to be moved to another region of Japan or simply fired, and will not recoup the costs of moving to Japan. TESOL qualifications are an insurance policy against this kind of thing happening.
Assistance is given to those who have completed ASQA accredited TESOL qualifications, such as:
